Ephraim, WI, Fire Museum Rededicated to Asst. Fire Chief 20 Years after LODD

Assistant Fire Chief Bill Weborg was headed to a boat fire on Sept. 26, 2004, when he collapsed.

The Ephraim Fire Department rededicated its fire museum Sunday in honor of a former assistant chief who died in the line of duty 20 years ago.

On Sept. 26, 2004, Assistant Chief Bill Weborg was responding to a boat fire when he collapsed. His father, Niles, the fire chief, tried to revive him. But his effort proved fruitless.

Bill's brother, Scott, also was a firefighter, according to NBC26.

"My father-in-law was fire chief. I married the fire chief's daughter, and I inherited the fire department along with her in 1959. And...I got on the fire department. Of course, when I had kids they had to go to the fire department with dad and grandpa," Niles Weborg said.

A floor crest honoring Woborg was unveiled during the ceremony.
